I got my first camera from my grandfather โ€” a purple Vivitar that I carried everywhere โ€” and I've never really put one down since. That was thirty-something years ago. These days I photograph with the same curiosity I had then, and a whole lot more skill.

Hi, I'm Kate.

Meet the Team

Some photographers pose families. I chase the real thing โ€” the way your toddler reaches for your hand without thinking, the light through your kitchen window on a Sunday morning, the laugh that's so you it could only be yours. My approach is rooted in the environment. The golden field, the weathered fence, the way afternoon light falls through the trees โ€” these aren't backdrops to me, they're part of your story. You'll see it in how I frame you: your family and the world around you, in conversation with each other.

A woman with two young girls standing on a dirt trail outdoors at sunset, holding ice cream cones, with a bicycle nearby and scenic mountains and sky in the background.
A woman with dark hair pulled back, resting her chin on her hand, looking at the camera through a reflective surface, with pink flowers in the foreground.

My secret? The best shots happen when you forget I'm there. I talk with you the whole time โ€” about your kids, your weekend, whatever's on your mind โ€” and that's when the magic shows up. You're not performing for the camera. You're just yourselves.

What I'm After

What I'm After ใ€ฐ๏ธ

Sessions feel relaxed, a little organic, and dare I say fun. No stiff poses. No forced smiles. I work with kids who don't want to sit still and grown-ups who haven't been in front of a camera in years, and I get them to soften โ€” usually within the first ten minutes. The galleries I deliver feel less like photos and more like a memory of your own.

Twenty years from now, your kids won't remember the outfit or the location. They'll remember the way they felt that afternoon. That's what I'm trying to capture.
